Asante Kotoko: Bibiani Gold Stars FC’s push for the Ghana Premier League title hit a stumbling block last weekend following a 1–0 away defeat to Bechem United. The narrow loss stalled their momentum at a crucial stage of the season, leaving the defending champions five points behind leaders Medeama SC and dropping them to third place with 32 points after 18 matches—their sixth defeat of the campaign.
Despite that setback, Bibiani Gold Stars remain one of the league’s toughest teams on home soil. The Miners boast the fourth-best home record, with seven wins and one draw, and are currently on an eight-match unbeaten run at Dun’s Park. That formidable home form will be key on Saturday as they host Asante Kotoko, hoping to bounce back quickly and reignite their title challenge.
Kotoko Seek Return to Winning Ways in Bibiani
Asante Kotoko head to Bibiani determined to rediscover their winning rhythm. The Porcupine Warriors ended 2025 strongly with three consecutive league victories, but the new year has brought mixed fortunes, with the Kumasi giants going two games without a win (one draw, one loss).

Their most recent outing ended in a goalless draw against Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a match where Kotoko controlled possession and created chances but failed to convert.
That result saw Kotoko slip to fourth place on 31 points, yet they remain one of the league’s most balanced sides. They boast the second-best attacking record and have conceded just 11 goals, the third-lowest tally in the league. Away from home, Kotoko rank as the third-best travellers, with three wins, three draws and three defeats, and will look to maintain that solid away form against Gold Stars.
Vision FC vs Medeama SC: Home Fortress Meets League Leaders
Vision FC continued their steady climb up the Ghana Premier League standings with a disciplined 0–0 draw away to FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. The result marked their third straight match without conceding, underlining a growing defensive solidity.

Nana Kweku Agyemang’s side now sit 11th on 22 points after 18 matches, having scored 14 goals and conceded 17. Their biggest strength this season, however, has been their home form. Vision FC are unbeaten at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, recording four wins and four draws, scoring 10 goals and conceding just three.
They have also kept three clean sheets in their last four home matches and will draw confidence from the fact that they defeated Medeama SC in their only previous league meeting in Tema.
Medeama Extend Title Grip Ahead of Tough Away Test
League leaders Medeama SC arrive in Tema in red-hot form. The Mauve and Yellow strengthened their hold on top spot with a convincing 3–0 win over Young Apostles in Tarkwa, extending their lead at the summit to five points.
Ibrahim Tanko’s men are currently on a remarkable 15-match unbeaten run, consisting of eight wins and seven draws. Their title charge has been built on both attacking flair and defensive discipline, with a league-high 25 goals scored and just 10 conceded, the second-best defensive record in the division.
Medeama have also impressed on the road, ranking as the second-best away side with three wins, four draws and only one defeat, which remains their sole loss of the season. They head into Saturday’s fixture on a six-game unbeaten away run (W2, D4).
Matchday Outlook
Saturday’s fixtures promise compelling battles across the league. In Bibiani, Gold Stars’ home dominance will be tested by Kotoko’s balance and away resilience, while in Tema, Vision FC’s impressive home record sets up a fascinating clash against Medeama’s relentless title momentum.
