The Access Course is designed to prepare candidates for entry into the Graduate Entry Medical Programme, which allows individuals with science-based undergraduate degrees to pursue a medical degree. According to UHAS, applications for the programme are currently open, with a deadline of January 9, 2026.

A Structured Pathway into Medical School

The GEMP Access Course is a four-week intensive programme that focuses on foundational Basic Medical Sciences. The course is structured to bridge knowledge gaps and equip applicants with the academic competencies required for medical training.

At the end of the Access Course, participants will undergo an entrance examination and a selection interview. Only candidates who successfully pass both stages will be offered admission into the Graduate Entry Medical Programme.

UHAS emphasizes that the Access Course is competitive and designed to identify candidates with the aptitude, discipline, and commitment required for the rigours of medical education.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the GEMP Access Course, applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or an equivalent science-based qualification. This requirement ensures that applicants already have a strong academic background relevant to medical training.

The programme is particularly suitable for graduates in fields such as biological sciences, biomedical sciences, nursing, public health, and other related science disciplines who aspire to become medical doctors.

Admission into GEMP

Successful candidates who complete the Access Course and pass the required assessments will gain direct admission into the Graduate Entry Medical Programme at UHAS. This offers a clear and structured route into medical education without the need to apply through the regular undergraduate medical entry stream.

The GEMP at UHAS is known for its focus on producing competent, ethically grounded, and community-oriented medical professionals, in line with the university’s mission of “Health for Development.”

Application and Contact Information

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through the official UHAS admissions portal at admissions.uhas.edu.gh. For further enquiries, applicants may contact the university via +233 24 609 7505.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences is located in Ho, in the Volta Region of Ghana, and remains one of the country’s leading institutions for health professional training.

UHAS continues to reaffirm its commitment to expanding access to quality medical education and strengthening Ghana’s health workforce through innovative training pathways.
