UG Graduate Admissions University of Ghana Opens Graduate Admissions for 2026/2027 Academic Year

UG Graduate Admissions: The University of Ghana, through its School of Graduate Studies, has officially announced graduate admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The announcement, published on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, invites applications from qualified candidates seeking admission into various Masters and PhD programmes across the university’s colleges.
UG Graduate Admissions: Wide Range of Accredited Programmes
Prospective applicants can choose from accredited programmes offered under the university’s four main colleges:
- College of Humanities, University of Ghana
- College of Education, University of Ghana
- College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana
- College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana

General Entry Requirements
Masters Programmes
Applicants must possess:
- A good first degree (at least Second Class Lower Division or a minimum GPA of 2.0) in a relevant field from the University of Ghana or any recognised/accredited university.
- Applicants with Third Class degrees may be considered based on work experience and/or additional qualifications.
Some departments may require entrance examinations and/or interviews. In certain cases, students may initially be admitted into MA/MSc programmes and later upgraded to MPhil status upon achieving a B+ average in the first semester and receiving departmental recommendation.

PhD Programmes
Applicants may apply with either:
- A relevant Masters degree from a recognised university; or
- A very good first degree.
Candidates admitted with a first degree must complete Level 600 Masters courses and pass all examinations before progressing to the four-year PhD programme (beginning with Level 700 courses).
All PhD programmes are fee-paying with the following durations:
- Full-Time: Four (4) years
- Part-Time: Six (6) years

Application e-vouchers cost GHS 220.00 and can be obtained at the following banks:
- Zenith Bank
- Universal Merchant Bank
- Access Bank Ghana
- Ecobank Ghana
- Republic Bank Ghana
- Agricultural Development Bank
- Consolidated Bank Ghana
- GCB Bank
- First Atlantic Bank
- Fidelity Bank Ghana
Applications must be completed online via the University’s graduate admissions portal.
International Applicants & Ghanaians Applying from Abroad
Applicants in this category must complete the online international graduate application form and pay a non-refundable processing fee of US$55.00.

Payment options include:
- Bank transfer to designated University of Ghana forex accounts
- Secure online payment via Visa or MasterCard
Proof of payment, transcripts (scanned into one PDF), and certificates must be uploaded before submission. No application will be processed without confirmed payment.
Important Application Requirements
Applicants must:
- Upload bachelor’s degree certificates and transcripts (UG graduates may attach certificates only, unless issued a new student ID).
- Provide details of three referees.
- Ensure names on the application match official documents.
- Provide a Gazette (if name has legally changed) or affidavit (if spelling/arrangement differs).
- Keep copies of submitted applications and vouchers for future reference.
All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date must provide their correct student identity numbers.

The deadline for submission of online applications for all programmes is:
