NPP Presidential Race: As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for its upcoming presidential election, National Organiser hopeful, Korsi Bodja has appealed to party members to uphold calm, unity, and discipline throughout the internal contest.

In a statement issued on Thursday, January 8, Mr. Korsi Bodja stressed that the party’s internal democratic process must strengthen, not weaken, the NPP’s long-standing political tradition.

“We are not merely choosing a flagbearer,” he said. “We are holding in trust a tradition built through sacrifice, persecution, resilience, and victory. This tradition did not survive decades of struggle to be weakened by internal discord at such a defining moment.”

Drawing on the symbolism of the party’s emblem, the Elephant, Mr. Bodja urged members to act with restraint and collective purpose.

“The Elephant does not charge blindly. It moves with strength, memory, and discipline. It stands firm, protects its own, and advances with purpose. In that same spirit, calm, unity, and restraint must define our conduct before, during, and after this internal democratic exercise,” he noted.

Mr. Bodja cautioned against placing personal ambition above party cohesion, emphasising that no individual aspiration should come at the expense of the NPP’s unity.

“No ambition, however noble, is greater than the Party. No temporary victory is worth the permanent damage to our collective home. After the ballots are cast, there must still be one New Patriotic Party, united, respected, and ready to win power for the people of Ghana,” he said.

He further described internal democracy as a strength that must be protected, rather than a tool for division.

“Differences of opinion must sharpen our ideas, not fracture our bonds. Let us argue with passion but act with discipline; compete vigorously but conclude peacefully; win with humility and lose with dignity,” he urged.

According to Mr. Korsi Bodja, the party’s legacy transcends individual success and must be preserved for future generations.

“The Party must live on. To injure it in pursuit of personal success is to betray the very ideals that brought us together. History will not only record who won this contest, but it will judge whether we protected the tradition through it,” he stated.

“The Elephant must not be wounded by its own. The tradition must endure. The NPP must rise again together,” he added.

Background

Korsi Bodja is a seasoned grassroots organiser who began his political career in the Volta Region at a time when the NPP was widely regarded as a no-go area. He has since risen through the party’s ranks, serving as Volta Regional Organiser for two terms, National Council Member, and Dean of all Regional Organisers, undertaking strategic assignments nationwide.

He holds a BSc in Information Technology from BlueCrest College, an MA in Management and Administration from the University of Ghana Business School, and an MPA in Public Administration from the University of Memphis, USA.
